I've had my Magnavox VCR since 1979 and have cleaned it only twice.
My kids watch at least one hour of tapes (musicals, ballets, ice skating,
no junk) every day and frequently two hours (we limit it). I don't use
those head cleaning tapes (which I've heard are bad for the heads). What
I'm saying is that my tape heads have been cleaned only twice in 5 years of
heavy use. And the picture still looks great.
