[net.misc] R.I.P. "Bunny"

ab3@pucc-h (Darth Wombat) (03/09/84)

The following was handed to me tonight as I attended an "Irish wake"
for a stalwart VW Rabbit that has gone the way of all automotive beasts...

----------
At approximately 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday the twenty-ninth of February,
nineteen hundred and eighty-four, the Volkswagen mechanic pronounced Bunny
D.A.G. (dead at garage).

Bunny, who had allowed Marion Milich to chauffeur her around, called
Germany her home, and was placed on the road in 1975. She had two known
drivers; Ms. Milich has been Bunny's driver since May, 1982, when she purchased
the rights to this honor from Mr. Steven Haoolway, brother of chauffeur. She
has travelled the road from Wood River, Illinois to West Lafayette, Indiana
many times in the past 22 months.

Bunny was always willing to give her all so that Ms. Milich could go
home. Bunny will be missed dearly by all those who have known her. Gone
are the nights when one could open up her sun root and gaze at the stars
while driving down the highway. No longer will that three beep horn be
heard along the road. No longer will she travel overflowing with dirty laundry.
She travelled along for some 67,000 miles, and many of the last 20,000 without
a driver.

Always the teacher, Bunny allowed three people to advance their stick
shift skills on her gears. She died of massive bumps and grinds. Funeral
plans are still pending, but a wake will be held for all mourners at the home
of the next of kin, Marian Milich, 323 N. Salisbury #2, West Lafayette, Indiana,
47906, on Thursday, March 1, 1984, at 8:00 pm. Last will and testament will
be read.

	Bunny will be missed.
----------

Now, the reason I posted this is that I thought it would be a great
joke if everyone who had the time could send a sympathy card to Marian at
the above address; she's not on the net, so US Mail would be appropriate.

Those of you lacking the time and/or funds to undertake this are
invited to electronically mail condolences to Marian care of

{ allegra, decvax, ihnp4, harpo, seismo, teklabs, ucbvax } !pur-ee!duffner

who is Marian's roommate, and totally unaware of this posting (let's keep
it that way, local Purdue types!).

Your concern is appreciated in this time of loss.
