I've seen a lot of "professional" electronic gear that wasn't
U.L. rated.  Also seen stuff that couldn't pass FCC Part 15
(electromagnetic radiation).

One trick you might watch out for -- if the U.L. sticker's
on the line cord, it means that the line cord passed U.L.
but it doesn't mean that the equipment itself passed.

Consumer electronics built to European standards often seems
better built than stuff that "only" passes U.L. -- hot chassis
TV sets aren't seen there, for example.
