[net.consumers] Ocular/Star Chart Information Wanted

amra@ihuxj.UUCP (Steven L. Aldrich) (08/08/84)

I recently purchased a telescope with the following:
F=700mm, D=60mm and was wondering what are the better types and
sizes of eye-pieces (oculars) for a telescope of this size.
   It came with 2 oculars (a 20mm & a 6mm) but I'd like to know
what other sizes I should purchase to have a "functional
and diverse" set of eye-pieces. I enjoy observing the planets
and stars mostly, but will be doing some solar observing
from time to time. (I already have sun-filters for my 2
oculars.) It is a refractor type if I remember correctly. It
uses a prism to focus the image from the main tube to the eye-piece.
The prism is a "diagonal prism" in case this makes any
differance. The mount is a 60mm Altazimuth attached to a tripod.
Thanks Again for your assistance and your time.

I am not an experienced star gazer, so please keep replies
   on a basic level okay?

Also, I'd like to know where I can purchase some good star
charts. I've looked in the Public Library and in the book
stores around town but haven't been able to find anything
which satisfies my needs. Any help is greatly appreciated,
   Thanks In Advance.

                      Best Regards,
                      Steve Aldrich
