I've had four Radio Shack Intercoms (42-212) for about a year and a half. I have had the talk button break on two of them. A plastic piece in the back shatters. It's relatively easy to fix with plastic cement and some sheet styrene, but it is also an exercise you may want to avoid. In addition, the lighted talk bar bulb has burned out on all four units, and replacements have to be soldered in. I actually like it better without the light. Inspite of these problems, I have had no electronic malfunctions, and I am not sorry I bought these intercoms. If you decide to purchase them, they go on sale every couple of months. Don Corey
