[net.consumers] Beginning Microwave cooking ideas

My wife and I have also just purchased a microwave. What we have tried
is cooking simple "packaged" recipies like "hamburger helped" (with
appologies to whoever makes the stuff) in the microwave. This may not
sound exciting but the package includes directions on how to do things
like browning ground beef (use a corningware bowl, cover lightly and
use HI for 6 minutes, stir, cover and use HI for another 6, if I
remember correctly... better check the package before you try it...),
and preparing noodles, etc.

Once you can do these things and have some idea how long it takes on
your oven (I understand they can vary a bit) you can try converting
other recipes. We're at that point now and have yet to try something
from scratch but at least we've got an idea as to how long certain
things will take.

One other source for microwave cooking ideas is the PBS show
"microwaves are for cooking". I saw it advertized on the Chicago PBS
station we get here (WTTW?).
