Ray Miller continues: > (BTW Bill, to answer your question, if I recall correctly Dr. Baugh has 2 > doctoral degrees: one in Theology and the other in Paleoanthropology. He also > has a MS in Archaeology. So despite your comments, he knows what he's doing.) Well, Ray, all I am trying to do is to gauge the credibility of Dr. Baugh's research. I am no "degree snob" - I can name a number of eminent individuals in my own field who never received the Ph.D. (e.g, Humason, Hoyle, Gold, Layzer), as well as many others who have degrees and whose research is trash (but libel laws preclude my putting the latter names in print). But a degree is at least a crude measure, depending upon the reputation of the institution that awards it. You are a friend of Dr. Baugh's: Surely you can find out from him (1) The degrees he has, (2) the institution that awarded them and the year, and (3) the fields. Thank you. Ultimately, of course, it is the quality of research, published in reputable journals, that determines a scientist's reputation and credibility. I must admit that Dr. Baugh's claim to have excavated eighteen-inch long footprints of giant men decreases his credibility in my eyes at least. So that was why I asked the question. His reputation might be raised in my eyes if I could read some of his original research in standard refereed journals, so that I could judge its quality. Perhaps you could oblige us and provide his bibliography. -- Bill Jefferys 8-% Astronomy Dept, University of Texas, Austin TX 78712 (USnail) {ihnp4,kpno,ctvax}!ut-sally!utastro!bill (uucp) utastro!bill@ut-ngp (ARPANET)
