New Jersey GASP (Group Against Smoking Pollution) is currently lobbying for a number of Assembly bills to control smoking in public places. They are in need of financial help. Contributions are tax deductable. For a $15 annual membership they will send occasional newsletters with news about their efforts and those of companion groups across the country. Here is an excerpt from their literature... WHAT IS NEW JERSEY GASP? New Jersey GASP is a non-profit educational organization incorporated in the State of New Jersey. Our purpose is to increase awareness of the harmful effects of second-hand tobacco smoke, both medical and financial. Though a young organization, we are succeeding in forwarding our goals, which are to: Educate the public about the medical, economic, legal and popular data which support nonsmokers' rights. Encourage nonsmokers and policy makers to take social and legal actions to secure smoke-free air. Support GASP members and policy makers with information, materials, counselling, referrals, and social support. GASP does NOT advocate prohibiting the use of tobacco. We do advocate the right of the nonsmoking majority to a smoke-free atmosphere in public. For further information, contact: New Jersey GASP, Inc. 105 Mountain Avenue Summit, NJ 07901 201 273-9368
