Ibuprofen [Motrin] can increase bleeding time due to inhibition of platelet aggregation, although the effect in less marked than with aspirin. Clinically one can observe an increased BT (bleeding time) with normal PT (prothrombin time) and PTT (prothrombin time). History of recent ingestion of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents in the face of impending surgery mandates careful hematologic screening and discretion.
