Ibuprofen [Motrin] can increase bleeding time due to inhibition of platelet
aggregation, although the effect in less marked than with aspirin.
Clinically one can observe an increased BT (bleeding time) with normal
PT (prothrombin time) and PTT (prothrombin time). History of recent
ingestion of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents in the face of impending
surgery mandates careful hematologic screening and discretion.
Ibuprofen has also been reported to cause tinnitus in from 1% to 3% of
patients treated.
