[net.misc] Superman vs Darth Vader

brp@ihuxm.UUCP (B.R. Priest) (03/05/84)

This very important question came up at the dinner table.
In a fight between Superman and Darth Vader, who would win?
My first inclination is that superman would win. Others have
violently disagreed. If you have a vote, I'll compile them and post
the results to the net.

In a fight between Supes and Darth I would vote that Darth
would win. The reason being that the force could be considered
as magic and I once read where Supes IS vulnerable to the
effects of magic. Whether or not the force is indeed magic
remains to be determined (by popular vote I suppose).
If it is not magic, then Supes would win.

				Who knows???

ps. Unless, of course, Darth had some kryptonite.

<It's a Bird!  It's a Plane!  It's . . . Anakin Skywalker?>

Who would win in that fight? Gee, what a dumb question.

Seems as if Supes would probably win if he attacked first
and from a distance. Vader might win if he got Supes into
a close-up battle, since his Light Saber is a sufficiently
high-tech weapon that it can probably at least HURT ol'
Supes. He would use his command of the Force to be able
to hit Supes, and to deflect much of his superior strength.

Ridiculous notion, why do I even bother, mutter mutter.

I definitely feel foolish responding to this one...

If Darth Vader and Superman had a fight, the winner would almost
	certainly be George Lucas.

What if Superman fought for the Nazis in WWII?

What if Eleanor Roosevelt could fly?

<chomp...chomp>

As I remember the Superman story, his powers are due to the
atmospheric, gravitational, molecular densities, and other such
differences between his native Krypton and the lovable planet
Earth. If this is the case, then the results of the battle between
Superman and Darth would depend on which planet the fight
takes place. Darth's power on the other hand seems to be universal.

It would depend on the circumstances. For example, DV could take
out Superman in a sneak attack if the Force is indeed magic.
However, Superman could implement one heckuva sneak attack of his
own by flying at Vader at near-lightspeed and ramming.

I saw that scenario on an old Saturday Night Live show titled "What If"?

Turns out the Nazis win (by the way, they called him Uberman), and courtesy
of Uberman's x-ray vision, he finds out that Jimmy Olson is a Jew (who then
gets taken away).

(oo)
Doctor Who would defeat them BOTH with charm, pinache, wit, and
intrigue. The Daleks have been trying to get him for eons, and he
wins every time......
