Yesterday (4/25/85) at 5:00 pm, just as the post office was closing, I mailed the following letter. I sent it certified mail, restricted delivery, return receipt requested. It cost $3.10. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The letter <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< 54 Carleton Road Carlisle, MA 01741 25 April 1985 Q Audio 95 Vassar Street Cambridge, MA 02139 Attention Mr. Heenan: This letter is in reference to our conversation on Wednesday, 17 April 1985. On that day you informed me that you would no longer allow me to return imported Compact Discs for a merchandise credit. When I purchased my Compact Disc Player (a Sony D-5) from Q Audio I was told that I would be allowed to return (within two weeks of purchase) any Compact Disc purchased at Q Audio and receive a full merchandise credit. This was one of the reasons I chose to purchase my D-5 from your store. Please reconsider. Though not a businessman myself, I do not believe that it is good practice for you to refuse to honor and abide by our original agreement. My daytime phone number is (617) 271-2260. Please feel free to contact me on this matter. I will be in touch with you. Sincerely, Robert Debenedictis >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ========== <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Then, today (4/26/85) at around 10:45 am, I got this call from Mr. Heenan. He had reconsidered. I could now once again purchase discs and return them. However, the discs I return must now be in pristine condition. I can live with that. And, I can only purchase new, unopened discs. This last point may be a problem since many of the imported disc that I like are not always available in shrink-wrapped packaging. Boy, was I impressed. I never knew that certified mail had such impact. Hope this helps, Robert DeBenedictis "Every day I write the book" - Elvis Costello
