[net.consumers] Jenn-Aire grills

Do they *really* suck up all the smoke like the ads say? Seems hard to
believe, but I suppose it's possible. Also, how does the grilled food
compare to, say, that cooked on a gas barbeque?

In regards to the Jenn-Aire grill query:

I happen to own a Jenn-Aire grill. Believe it or not, it really does suck
up the smoke. I think they work just fine. One disadvantage--it isn't
easy to cover what you're cooking so I don't recommend it for chicken pieces
or an extra thick steak.

*** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH A JENN-AIRE GRILL ***

Jenn-Aire grills DO suck up all that smoke! They are great!!
Food cooked on the grill is terrific - there is no difference,
really between the taste of food cooked on a Jenn-Aire or a gas
barbecue except that the "J-A" food might not taste as "gassy"
if you use the hickory-smoke plate. Try to buy one that has the
"cartridge" option on at least one side. This way you can have the
use of two stovetop coils and: a barbeque grill, or pancake griddle,
or rotiserie, or deep-frier, or the regular four stovetop coils.
If you already have a stove and are buying the J-A as an extra, then
see if you can get one with a removable cartridge so you have more
 cooking options!

The center fan really does an excellent job. Much better than
any hood type that I have ever seen! As with the hood type, they
are noisy. I've never used a gas barbeque so I can't respond to
your last question. However, the grill is removable and the
griddle that fits in there is very large. A nice feature when
you want a lot of evenly heated griddle space!
