[net.consumers] Pool Cleaning

steve@micomvax.UUCP (Steve Grice) (05/13/85)

Has anyone out there in netland heard of a 'Creeping Crawler'? It is a
device used to clean pools, that attaches to the vacuum pump. It moves
around the pool, up and down the sides cleaning as it goes. It's quite
expensive, nearly $500 (cdn), but looks like a very interesting gadjet.

Does anyone own one (or something similar), and if you do, can you drop
me a note of your experiences with it.

Also, I would appreciate any company names and addresses that market this
product or any like it.

   Many Thanks

I tried one last year and they work quite nicely. They were invented in
South Africa, and franchises are popping up all over the US and the world.

The reason I didn't buy one is that I am under the impression that it takes
me as much time to put the device into the pool, wait for it to do the
cleaning (at least checking every once in a while that it didn't get stuck
in a corner) and removing it from the pool again. I figure that if I don't
have the time, I pay a neighborhood-kid to vacuum, while if I do have the time
I don't gain anything by watching the crawler.

However, it is a fascinating gadget and I was quite tempted.
