[net.consumers] Cutco and the Guardian company

rjd@faron.UUCP (Robert DeBenedictis) (05/15/85)

Has anyone out there ever heard *anything* about either CutCo or the Guardian
company? I'm told they sell cutlery and other domestic goods. You can't buy
their stuff in stores; you have to make an appointment to have someone come
to your house and show it to you. They claim to be related to Alcoa. I would
appreciate ANY information on this company. (preferably soon)

Thank you,
Robert DeBenedictis

I just started reading this group, so this is probably very late,
but I was broke in college and went to a Cutco demo (they were
looking for salespersons). We watched this guy do all this neat
stuff with the Cutco stuff, the biggie being using the ordinary
kitchen shears to turn a penny into a corkscrew in a matter of
seconds. Wow! Could those things cut or what?! Everyone was
duly impressed - then I took a look at the guy's forearms. Having
worked at a spa for a while, I just smiled and waited until he
had to leave the room for a phone call. I went up to the table,
picked up the scissors, took out a penny and proceeded within
mere seconds to ..... make not the slightest start of a cut. I
then handed the scissors and the penny to a huge football-player
type and he tried, with only slightly better results.

I should have stayed to see the look on the guy's face when he
came back to an empty room where 20 students had been just moments
before......

I have a pair of scissors that cost me less than five dollars from
the local surgical supply place. It will cut pennies very nicely.
They are designed for paramedics for cutting through peoples leather
boots, seatbelts, etc...

You don't need superhuman strength.
