I am shopping for a dishwasher. I would welcome any comments,
experiences, and/or suggestions. In particular, I am interested
in washing ability and reliability.

Rachel,

I purchased a Sears Kenmore dishwasher about
2 years ago and it still performs like a charm.
I wasn't looking for anything fancy but
		I got a good washer 5 cycle, hot/cold dry
(energy efficient) at a very good price.
I shopped around and could not find the
features I wanted for the price a wanted
except Sears. I am very pleased with it.

Let me know what you decide!!!!!

I have had several dishwashers over the years, I have been around
quite awhile, and highly recommend that you purchase a Kitchen Aid.

You will most likely have to pay more but the superior performance
and reliability make it worth it. This is assuming that you intend
to have it several years, if you are going to sell your house and
leave it the investment would be lost.

One feature most people overlook is the method of drying used by a
dishwasher. To the best of my knowledge the Kitchen Aid is the
only one that does not have an exposed heating coil in the bottom.
It blows heated air in through concealed ducts. This is important
because you occasionally have small items knocked out of the baskets
the pressure of the water jets and they fall to the bottom. If they
are plastic or wood they will be destroyed by that heating coil when
the drying cycle starts. You not only lose the item but are also
greated with some foul odors and the possibility of a fire.

Its possible that other brands may have this feature but I have never
seen one.
