Does anyone know how to identify the new Coke from the old
(without the benefit of taste or obvious labels)? I've heard
that the _g_o_l_d topped cans are the new stuff eventho the cans
do NOT have the new labels. I have also heard that one may
be able to tell by the numbers stamped on the bottom of the
12oz. cans.
I have discovered (yecch!) that it can be deceiving
identifying the 16oz. bottles - I have seen ordinary labels
on the bottles with "new" labels on the cardboard carrier?
The liter bottles seem to be marked with new labels -- but,
it is the cans that I am not sure of.
Anyone have any theories? (e-mail or net responses are ok)
Waiting (hopefully) for true-blue to return,

For the 16 oz. bottles, the local Coke distributer had been stamping the legend "NEWm/d" on bottles, where "m/d" was apparently the month and day the bottle was filled. This was stamped towards the top of the outer foam covering onhe bottle. I don't know if this is done by other bottlers, but you might look for it. -- Warren R. First are the gold topped cans. These are new Coke. (Except Decaf. Coke) Second, the dot matrix lot numbers contain the word NEW on the old cans with the silver lid, and on the 16 "throwaway" bottles (Yes I know they are not "throwaways" in the northeast,). Third is the new labeling, which will appear more as they use up the existing supply of packaging. I also prefer the old Coke, but it is still better than that "New Generation" colored soda water. Also, the Decaf still tastes like the old Coke, I don't know if this is because the supply of the old isn't used up, or if it is because they haven't f**ked with it yet. J. Matthew Good
