[net.consumers] Coke, New Coke

badovin@utah-cs.UUCP (Peter Badovinatz) (07/12/85)

Saw in this mornings local paper (Salt Lake Tribune) that the
Coca-Cola company will begin marketing their "Old Coke" recipe
as "Classic Coke". It will start at a few of the major markets
and filter out into the hinterlands. No info given on pricing.

Question: What will the Coke company do when their "Classic Coke"
outsells their "New Coke"? Slowly drop the "Classic" from the
name and phase out the "New"? Only time will tell...

My only (perhaps cynical) question is;

	What will the price be on the Classic Coke?

Anybody want to bet it goes up?

"I'd like a diet caffine-free cherry "classic" coke please?"

PS: Cherry Coke is pretty awful, but it seems to be based on the old
    coke formula rather than new coke (ingredients list contains
    "sugar" rather than "HFCS or sugar")
