[net.consumers] vacuum cleaner recommendations?

I assume that this topic has already been hashed, but will someone(s)
make some vacuum cleaner recommendations?  Or has someone perhaps already
posted a request of this sort and archived responses?

I am interested in the high end models because I think the $55-$199
range is not worth the investment.
