I have used GOOP-like cleaners for years on stubborn spots. Just rub the stuff in and around the grease stain, or such, then wash normallly. My wife thought I was crazy, now she uses it. Careful- some GOOP-like products are petroleum based, so be wary of what type of articles it is used on. Greasy workshop clothes and rags clean up super. LWS hou2d!lws

GOOP is a brand name for a particular type of product known generically as "waterless hand cleaner". It's usually sold for auto mechanics since it's great for cleaning the grease off your hands after working on your car. As I understand it, the products contain kerosene as a cleaning agent, and lanolin as a hand conditioner. They work well on your hands with or without water (you need paper towels to wipe your hands on if you don't use water) but I wouldn't want to try to use it on clothing.
