Recently when I posted on the dangers of smoking, someone pointed out
that the Surgeon General's warning said that only smoking MAY be hazardous to
your health.
With that in mind, submitted for your approval:
Old Warning:
Warning: The Surgeon General Has Determined
That Cigarette Smoking May be Hazardous to Your Health.
New Warning:
Warning: The Surgeon General Has Determined
That Cigarette Smoking Is Dangerous to Your Health.
'May Be Hazardous' has been changed to 'Is Dangerous'
I rest my case.

There are now four different warnings, designed to alert smokers to some of the specific problems connected with smoking, which must be printed on the boxes on a rotating basis, switching every three months. The warnings all begin "SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING:" and then go roughly as follows: (1) Smoking by pregnant woman may result in low birth rate or fetal injury. (2) Smoking can cause emphysema, lung disease, and heart problems. (3) Quitting smoking now greatly reduces dangers of ill health. (4) Tobacco smoke contains carbon monoxide.
