Beer Survey All (or mostly all) of the truly good US beers have essentially disappeared from the market. They have been replaced by the (so called) popular brands such as Hamms, Millers, Coors, Budweiser, ad nauseum. As a lad in high school and for a few years after we thought national brands were great. What a mistake we were making in our attemp to be sophisticated beer consumers. In good old Oshkosh, WI there used to be three (3) local breweries: Rahr's; Peoples; and the Chief Oshkosh Brewery. Peoples was a very good beer. Chief Oshkosh beer had a slogan something like 'brewed with water from a 500 foot well'. Some claimed it was true: 20 feet down and then 480 feet north--right into Lake Winnebago! When I buy beer now I try to find a local brew because they are much better than the big names. Leinenkugels is good but hard to find around Chicago. Pete Schultz AT&T Bell Labs; Naperville, IL
