Look at Consumer Reports July 1985 page 382 for an article titled "How
to Avoid 'Junk' Calls'.  I'm not going to copy it out here because it's
a violation of copyright. The upshot is that you can subscribe to the
"Telephone Preference Service", a program of the Direct Marketing
Association (DMA) to help reduce the number of annoying calls.  To
