Re: Recent postings regarding treatment by Sears-Roebuck & Company

To those of you who might like to know:

About 11K companies make products for Sears. Some of the most
 well known are:

     radial tires- Michelin
     batteries- Globe-Union
     kitchen appliances- Hamilton Beach
     irons- Sunbeam
     electric drills- Singer
     tv's/stereo's/vcr's- Sanyo, Toshiba,Hitachi
     mens shirts- I. B. Schwabe
     washers-dryers Whirlpool(Sears buys 43% of Whirlpool sales)
     ranges- Roper
     paints- DeSoto Company (?)
     general textiles- Swift

I realize that Sears is starting to promote brand names more and
more and this list is far from complete.

Does anyone else know what are the "brand name" names that Sears
sells?
Please post to net.

I think most people will agree that there's a big difference
between Trashyo and Hitachi, though.

Black & Decker makes at least one of the industrial
grade Craftsman electric drills.

Skill makes the worm gear industrial power saws
for Sears.

Colorado Forge makes some of the Craftsman screwdrivers.

I'm trying to figure out what is meant by this comment. Are you
saying Sanyo is bad, Toshiba is bad, or both compared to Hitachi?
If you are knocking Toshiba, then I have to disagree. I have a
19" Toshiba color television that I bought back in 1978. People
still remark on the good quality of the picture, and I have never
had a problem with it. My only experience with Hitachi, however,
was not nearly so good. I bought a cassette deck which was
supposed to be a good one, but I thought the sound was terrible
and quickly replaced it. I also have a Toshiba receiver and the
only problem I've encountered is that both times my house was
zapped by lightning (yes, twice and at 2 different locations!),
the receiver had many parts blown. I can hardly blame Toshiba for
that.

The 35mm cameras sold under the Sears name are made
by Ricoh.

OK...Ricoh makes their Cameras...BUT...what I need to know is:
Who really makes the Craftsman 1169 power sander?
