I am ready to kill the person at Tandy who decided not to release Tandy 2000 BIOS source code. It might not be so bad if it was properly documented and it didn't have bugs, but the documentation is wrong and incomplete and there is a nasty bug in the video driver (ever notice a flash on the bottom of your screen? Its gets worse when you try to implement a terminal emulator and do insert/delete line). The video driver problem is driving me blind and I would to fix it myself, but I gave up patching object code long ago. It would be so easy if I had the sources. What I really dont understand is why Tandy doesn't make the BIOS available. If the usually secret IBM can do it then why the hell can't Tandy?!?! IBM learned from the mistakes of other vendors who tried to keep their machine's insides secret, but Tandy seems doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. I hope somebody at trsvax is reading this. Its too bad Tandy is doing its usual job of killing otherwise good hardware with bad software and non-support of outside progarmmers. (Please dont tell me to join the "outside authors" program. I'm in it, and it doesn't make any extra information available). -- John McNamee ..!decvax!philabs!sbcs!bnl!jpm jpm@Bnl.Arpa
