Thanks for the responses to my query concerning the Model100, all were
concerned mainly with a termcap for the machine. The termcap that follows
at the end of this article works well with vi (in fact it is better than
the one for my vt100 at long lines) and more.
Eric S. Fraga supplied the termcap and also mentioned that he will
send some interesting programs when he gets some time.

who recommended the the book The Hidden Powers of the TRS-80 Model 100,
Christopher L. Morgan, The Waite Group. I bought this book and it is
very useful. The book occasionally refers to Radio Shack publication 700-2254,
Model 100 ROM Functions, which I may well buy too.
Two questions remain.
1) Is it possible to turn off/on the upload and download capabilities while
running in terminal mode, by sending an escape sequence from the host machine?
If so, how.
2) What should I do about ascii characters that are not represented on the
Model 100 keyboard. Specifically the characters "{", "}", "|", "~" inter alia.
