This is sort of a response to the request for discussion on TRS-XENIX. I have used TRS XENIX on a model 16 for almost a year now and find it to be a reasonably good system. I think PROFILE16 is perhaps the most underrated data base program in the microcomputer world today (If you liked profile 3+, you'll love profile 16). I have also used multiplan and mbasic on Xenix. I am very disappointed by multiplan's not allowing spreadsheets larger than 64K (sort of an MSDOS type feature). MBASIC is about as fast as PC basic on integer operations but offers a significant speed increase in floating point operations. Now some questions for all those out in net land. How much better is Xenix 3.0? Is it really 3x faster? How good is the Xenix development system? Is it worth $950 (Canadian)?
