River Rats, Inc. has just been given a TRS-80 Model III cassette system with RS-232-C interface, etc., and a crude terminal program. The idea is to use it as a terminal to access a UNIX(tm) system, and write our accounting software in C. This is a request for a more capable terminal emulator. I want to be able to send every ASCII character from SOH (01) to DEL (7F), handle CR and NL conventionally, implement enough screen control to satisfy vi, and turn the printer on and off. It might also be nice to be able to get files off a bulletin board, especially if the terminal emulator I want is on a bulletin board. Does this simmer down to "how do I get Kermit if I don't already have Kermit (and don't even have a floppy drive)"? Or is that the wrong question? M. B.
