[net.micro.trs-80] Model 1000 Multifunction Board

Good news for model 1000 fans. Tandy has announced (in their new catalog)
a multifunction board that can substitute for up to four of their regular
boards! The board (for $311) contains 256k of RAM (does it contain the
DMA? Don't know but I would guess "yes"). You can add another row of 256k
chips to bring it up to 512k for the max 640k system. Sockets on the board
allow adding new versions of their RS-232 and Mouse/Clock cards. This
gives two free slots, one for the hard disk controller ($300) and another
available for who-knows-what (in my case it would be the original 256k
card, I presume).

I also noticed that the announcement for the 1000HD (which has a 10Meg hard
disk for $2000) says it has 256k of RAM. Is this using the new, rumored,
mother-board which has a socket for an 8087??

This is great, but when is their TECH MANUAL going to be available?

Better news for Tandy 1000 fans. The MFB-1000, sold by Computers Plus,
Inc in MA, can be purchased for about $350 with 512K memory, a working
RS232 port, the clock/calendar circuitry and software, and battery
backup for the latter.
