Tandy was bragging in an ad for the Tandy 2000 that they had a free
user hotline for their users.  I've had a Tandy 2000 for a year and
have never seen the hotline listed anywhere. Does anyone know the
number?

    I don't know what it is now, but it is probably jammed up, with a
serious wait to talk to anyone.  When, and if, you get through they will
give stock answers, like reformat and reinstall or go to a backup.
(No backup ?  Then rekey or send us a backup and we'll piddle around for
a month and see waht we can do to it.) Anything not already explained in
the manual is probably ovet their heads.  Most of the people on the
phones last just a few months.  

    Your best bet is to find a competant Customer Service Rep. and get them
to chase the answers.  If there are none available, get on the good side of
one of the local sales types and get him to show you the big bug book (CSB).
Last I saw it was two volumes and growing fast.  It documents almost every
patch available.  If you have a real problem try writing, most of the TRS
customers are illiterate and therefore there are few correspondance jam-ups
to the support group.

It may be true that the toll free number is jammed all the time and
is manned by people of limited experience.  Whenever I've had a
problem with Tandy equipment, I've always used the non toll free
numbers that they used to provide in their newsletter.  I always
got results from the people at the other end -- even though
long distance from Southern Ont. to Fort Worth is not cheap.

This is ridiculous! Two people have replied to my original article
saying that they've used various Tandy phone numbers, and then
haven't told me what the numbers are!
