As far as I know, one cannot use the 100 as a modem because, although it has two ports (direct-connect phone and RS232C) they share most of the internal hardware. As a result, you can only have one of the two ports open at any time. It's really unfortunate because I am in the position myself of having bought an Atari ST and now have to spend quite a bit more money to get a modem that doesn't even come close to the functionality of that in my Model 100. Oh well... [mind you, if anybody does find of a way to do what I have said is not possible, PLEASE let me know!] As an aside, somebody recently posted a termcap for the Model 100 that set the column entry to 39 (ie. co=39) for which there is no reason. I use mine with the following termcap and everything works perfectly -- this includes: vi, more, emacs, etc. Note that this termcap also makes sure the label line is removed when going into 'vi' and allows the use of the arrow keys!!! ================================== # # Tandy Radio Shack Model 100 # # 8 line by 40 character LCD display RAM based # computer with built in TELCOM terminal emulator # program. # T1|trs100|trs80-100|Tandy Radio Shack TRS-80 Model 100:\ :al=\EL:\ :am:bs:bw:cd=\EJ:ce=\EK:\ :cm=\EY%+ %+ :\ :co#40:cl=\Ej:up=\EA:\ :ho=\EH:\ :kd=^_:kl=^]:kr=^\:ku=^^:\ :li#8:ms:\ :nd=\EC:do=\EB:dl=\EM:ho=\EH:\ :mi:pt:\ :sr=\EI:so=\Ep:se=\Eq:\ :vs=\EU:xt: ============================================= Enjoy and good luck! -- Eric S Fraga [Dept of Computer Science, U of Waterloo]
