I have an 8k model 100 which I would like to convert into a 16k unit. The local radio Shack wants about $130 for adding this chip, which is close to 50% of the cost of the entire unit. Does anyone konw whether this chip can be purchased elsewhere and what it takes to install it?

I have only recently been looking for extra memory for my Model 100 so there are probably better deals out there. The best price I've seen for an 8k ram chip for a Model 100 or for the Nec 8201A is $39.95. call Jamemco Electronics at (415) 592-8097 for more information.

Better deal: 8k RAM chips for the M100, just $25.95 each. I ordered two this afternoon. Best price I've seen. Node Computer Systems (name change?) -- 408/462-3773 -drew
