The portable 3.5" disk drive for the TRS Model 100 hooks up via RS232. It is claimed to communicate at 19200 baud, a standard rate. It thus seems that all one needs to do is find out what its command set is, and one could use it on other machines, my NEC 8401 for example. (obviously, a specialized program would be required, but this shouldn't be too hard to do) It could also be used as a handy device to transport data between machines with incompatible disk formats or sizes. I've been trying to discover whether there is any information available on the command set of this drive. The local RS computer center store isn't sure, thinks it might be in a technical manual that they do not have and seem to be unable to order. SO, does anyone out there have this information or know where it might be available? I'd think that RS would be happy to give it out, since they might potentially sell quite a few of these to owners of machines other than their own. If you have any leads, please contact me via mail or respond in news. Thanks, Ross Alford ...mcnc!ecsvax!alford
