I've finally finished what I think is a more or less working copy of a "networking" program for the Model 100. The program allows you to send messages to any other user (via modem), which can contain program listings, normal messages, or any other form of text. It allows forwarding as well -- theoretically you could send a message from one state to another at no cost, as long as there is a M100 user every few miles away. It also allows "newsgroups" or "mailing lists" similar to INFO-LAPTOPS or net.micro.trs-80, etc., whose messages will be sent to only those whose names are associated with the newsgroup in a list of hosts and numbers stored on the M100. What I need is a few people who are willing to run this software for about four days in order to work out any bugs. CRITERIA/CONDITIONS: * You must have a Hayes-compatible modem and a Model 100 * You must be willing to keep your M100 running during the night for up to four days (AC adapter of course!) NOTE: The software waits until 1:00AM to start operating, so just run the program before dozing off for the night, unplug your phone, and the software will start itself at 1:00. * Each day you must enter a couple test messages with the TEXT editor. Just leave them there and the program will take care of them (and will kill them off after they've been sent) * You must live in the masachusetts area, unless you're willing to pay for the cost of sending each message out at 1:00AM (a few messages a day) If you meet the above terms, and are willing to help out, please contact me. Give me your voice telephone number and the hours at which I can reach you. I will contact you about receiving a network address, how to use the software, etc. -drew arpa: MOORE%MIT-EECS@MIT-MC.ARPA uucp: ...mit-eddie!moore us: Box 121, North Quincy, MA 02171
