<> I propose setting up a new news-group, net.economics. The purpose of this group would be to set up a forum for economists and economic students on the net. In other words, with the advent of networks such as usenet, arpanet, etc., and the related bboards that go with them, why can't us economists ( I'm sure any other academic profession coud be inserted here ) use these inovations to further communicate with each other. That way, whenever we face problems associated with research, etc., we can have available an additional forum to express our ideas as well as to recieve comments and criticism. I realize (based on comments seen in net.news.group) that there is reluctance to create seldom used newsgroups. However I am curious to know if there any other economists on the net who see the potential uses of this network as a readibly accessable way of communicating with other economists and believe that these uses would be often employed.
