How about a prize for a successful Go program? I'm willing to put up $500 for a program that plays at the (amateur) shodan level under the following conditions. 1. Others also contribute to bring the prize value up to or beyond $1000. 2. We can agree on a method to verify the shodan level. 3. Suitable conditions can be arranged to verify the absence of fraud. 4. The programmer keeps full ownership of the program but royalty-free copies are given to those who contribute $100 or more toward the prize. 5 ... Other conditions may be useful, such as no more than ? hours per move, program in a "standard" language such as LISP or PASCAL, etc. Anyone interested? For the moment, let's keep general conversation and comments in the newsnet. Potential contributors may communicate directly by mail. --Dick Wexelblat (...decvax!ittvax!wxlvax!rlw)
