[net.games.go] Regarding Go Problems

ken@alberta.UUCP (Ken Hruday) (01/13/84)

I would like to express my appreciation to Bill
Kanawyer for submitting his problems to the net - they
were a welcome diversion. I hope more problems can be
submitted in the future. Solving Go problems seems to
be the only practical way of acquiring more skill as
there is a definite shortage of players here.
Note that Go by correspondence (over the net)
is infeasible since there is a large number of moves
made in a single game with a large associated probability
of messages being lost - and an even larger associated
time of delay (each move may take two or more days to
travel). If you don't believe the arguement witness the
problems had by chess coresspondents over the net for
their games of roughly 30 - 40 moves and imagine the problems
for Go (with the number of moves reaching well over 100
	on a 19 X 19 board).
