    White lives in this problem by playing 'under' the stones. But first
a move must be made to keep black from making whites second eye false. This
may look like a losing move as it allows black to capture the four stones,
but as you can see in the next diagram, white plays under the stones to live.

    So, as you can see, sometimes it is necessary to let go of some stones
inorder to make life or gain an advantage. It is not necessary for every one
of your stones on the board to live in order to win a game.
