Does anyone have pointers to literature on Go-playing programs? I'd like to read up on it even though I don't have time to work on one just now. I assume that efforts that try to use minimax/alpha-beta pruning have trouble with a 19*19 size board. Many Thanks, Ben Branch

Post a Snail address and I will send you a copy of the bibliography
to a disertation called _Abstraction Hierarchies: A Model of
Perception and Cognition in the Game of Go_ by Ken Friedenbach, 1980.
The disertation runs a couple of hundred pages and I am not interested
in copying it, sorry. You can order it from University Microfilms
International. In my opinion, the biblio is the best part.
I seem to recall, although I can no longer locate the source, a quote
that for computation considerations chess is roughly equivalent to
11 X 11 go.
