Is anyone interested in playing go by mail? It would go slow, but also there would be fewer mistakes due to unsearched spaces.. so you'd probably play better. Is anybody playing go like this now? The author concluded that the optimum board size for this was (if I recall) 5 x 9. Electronic mail might help a little, but you would still be playing on a very restricted board size. Upon request, I can dig out my old copies of the journal and try to find the exact reference. D.Katz

I started writing a GO pbm program about two years ago. I got the board handler with the position evaluation algorithms implemented (curses, of course) but I never finished the rest of it off. It's all sitting here... If someone wanted to work on it, I'd send it to them.
