[net.games.go] [Go software] for the Amiga

jimm@amiga.UUCP (Jim Mackraz) (01/13/86)

I am writing an 'Electronic Go Board' for the Amiga, which I hope to
be able to use as a front end for Joseki tutors, showing games as movies,
recording and commenting on games, with digressions, and as a front end
for go-by-mail/network and programs like Nemesis.

If anyone is messing around in this arena or would be interested in the
result, drop me a line. The program will be strongly amiga specific (I
think I can test for captured groups with the Blitter), so y'all run out
and get one, y'hear? (Part of the purpose of this program is to get
Burt, 3-dan, to buy an Amiga.) Source will be distributed, someway, someday.

I don't have a good pointer to Bruce Wilcox, but you can try the recent
SIGART newsletter or American Go Journal.

On this subject, I wonder if anyone embraces a standard for storage
or communication of a Go game, initial state of a game, digressions,
and so on. I will use some variant of the Amiga/EA IFF format if I
don't hear anything.

I am having trouble mailing through ARPA gateways, so include USnail or
phone if you want a response.
