Formats for recorded games. Here is the recorded game format used by the "goban" program for the first few moves of the builtin example game. The 19 indicates that the game is on a 19x19 board. The zero that follows next means there was no handicap. The two following lines containing a blank and a period would contain a list of positions if there were any stones initially on the board. In this game there are none. The notation "Black" indicates that black moves first. Moves are listed in sequence using the standard international notation where the letter I is skipped. 19 0 . . Black R16 R4 D3 C5 E4 P16 P17 O17 Q17 N16 O15 P15 O18 O14 N18 O3 Q14 C15 C17 E16 E17 F17 I would like to see this notation extended to include comments so that games, problems, and joseki can be recorded with commentaries placed in-line at the appropriate move. The comments would probably be best in the /* comment */ form. Header lines should be marked what they are. For example: "Lines: 19". Also, it should be free form so that any number of moves can be placed on a line. --- {ucbvax, decwrl}!sun!alan "Extraordinary how potent cheap music is." Noel Coward
