I just got a call from my dad asking for some technical advice on the purchase of a small business computer designed to organize and automate his pharmacy. The system he is looking at is called the QS/1 Pharmacy System developed by Smith Data Processing of Spartanburg, SC. They put out a larger system on an IBM Series/1 designed for large drugstore chain operations. They also put out a smaller system designed for the independent pharmacist on a Seiko Series 8600 micro. The literature he sent me was primarily concerned with the software capabilities of the system, with mention of a 16 bit processor, built in hard disk, and removable 5.25 inch floppy. I was not aware that Seiko had entered the micro business, and therefore could not help him very much. If anyone can offer any information about the Series 8600, pro or con, please respond via electronic mail or give me a call. My dad is travelling to Indianapolis tomorrow night to demo this thing, and I'd like to have a few things to throw at him before he leaves. As always, thanks in advance...
