I recently received an invitation to subscribe to a new quarterly magazine called "An Gael - Irish Traditional Culture Alive in America Today". The description inside the front cover reads as follows: "An Gael is published quarterly by An Claidheamh Soluis (pronounced Un Cleave Solish - Sword of Light) , Inc., The Irish Arts Center, 553 West 51st St., NY, NY 10019. Payment of $10 issued for published stories. The editors welcome story leads, manuscripts, artwork and photographs dealing with traditonal Irish culture in Ireland and America. We are unable to return submissions due to our small staff. Subscription prices: $10/4 issues in USA, $11 in Canada, $12 outside USA and Canada. This magazine has poetry, folk tales, cartoons for children, modern fiction in Irish (with translations) and English, articles on music and dance, book reviews, editorials and letters to the editor. It also has many interest- ing advertisements for restaurants, theaters and concerts. And before I close I'd like to issue an update on the addresses of the bookstores I mentioned in previous articles: Keshcarrigan Bookstore, 90 West Broadway, NY, NY 10007 (212) 962-4237 Facsimile Bookshop, 16 West 55th St., NY, NY 10019 (212) 581-2672 Irish Book Center, 245 West 104th St., NY, NY 10025 (212) 866-0309 DuFour Editions, Inc., Box 449, Chester Springs, PA 19425 (215) 458-5005 Rivendell Bookshop, Ltd., 149 First Avenue, NY, NY 10003 (212) 533-2501 Helen Harte Bookseller, 2249 Glendon Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90064 (213) 474-0181
