[net.nlang.celts] Learning Gaelic

I hope this is the right place for this article. I am interested
in learning Gaelic. This interest was sparked by listening to records
sung in (I believe) that language (Skara Brae and also the folks in Relativity
who are from Bothy Band, I think). I'd like to be able to understand
what's being sung, and sing the songs also. Anyway, I have seen one book
"Teach Yourself Gaelic" that might help with the grammar, but I think I
would need to listen to pronunciation to get it right. Any ideas?
Is there something like Berlitz records/cassettes for Gaelic? Are there lots
of dialects (e.g., Irish vs. Scottish vs. ??)? Any help would be
appreciated. I am new to this group, so, if this has been discussed before,
I'd be grateful if someone could send me the articles.

I am in New Jersey, USA, if anyone can give me pointers to people to talk
to around here, stores/libraries to try for materials, etc.
