Pertwee's Bessie was no normal car. It was able to travel at rediculous speeds, and had artifical gravity so that excessive deceleration did not even get felt by Jo or the Doctor. We never did see what became of Bessie. It seems to be standard now that a new Doctor destorys the trademarks of his former self and assumes new ones as soon as possible. Baker was quick to change clothes and was ready to leave UNIT right away. Davison unravels the sacred scarf and also does the quick change. About all that has ever stayed (aside from the Tardis) is the sonic screwdriver. And even that goes eventually. I don't like Nathan-Turner very much myself. He's doing some good things with the show, but he has some bad ideas. He wants the doctor to be young, for example. How people like Colin Baker or Peter Davison can play somebody almost 800 years old I don't know. He wants the Doctor to be more daring and heroic. That's what Pertwee was like, although in a pompous way. I don't want to see a return to that. -- Brad Templeton - Waterloo, Ontario (519) 886-7304
