The Sonic Screwdriver was not thrown out, contrary to popular belief. Nissa and Adric and Tegan use it in one of Peter Davidson's shows (I don't remember which) to cut up some of the tardis and make a null box (or some name like that). He also rips up Tom Baker's scarf (so we'll probably see that somewhere again) and picks up a cricket bat (must be one of his first ones.) --johnc ...(decvax,linus,cornell)!dartvax!johnc

The Daleks eat this first line No, no, no. The Sonic Screwdriver is not used to cut up pieces of the tardis to make the zero cabinet! The sonic screwdriver is used in a later Peter Davison episode to induce 48 hours of deep sleep in Nyssa. As such, she does not appear in that episode, except in the beginning. The sonic screwdriver becomes part of the sleep-inducer. The doctor unravels his scarf in the first Peter Davison episode, when he becomes lost in the tardis. He uses the yarn to mark his path. As he is wandering, he also finds a coat rack with that cricket outfit and hat on it, and puts the new outfit on. I wish that people would learn once and for all that it is Peter DAVISON not Peter DAVIDSON. That's how it's spelled in the credits, after all!

Another slip of the tongue perhaps. The sonic screwdriver said goodbye in The Visitation, the episode with the Terileptils. Hope this helps. Contact Has Been Made, Andrew Garrett

The sonic screwdriver was destroyed in one of the early Davison stories. I think it was "The Visitation". Producer John Nathan-Turner says he got rid of it because it was providing the writers with too easy a way to get the Dr. out of sticky situation. He wanted them to exercise their imaginations more. -- From the Tardis of Mark Callow msc@qubix.UUCP, decwrl!qubix!msc@Berkeley.ARPA ...{decvax,ucbvax,ihnp4}!decwrl!qubix!msc, ...{ittvax,amd70}!qubix!msc

It certainly wasn't Logopolis, that's Baker's regeneration episode, and the screwdriver statys around for about 4 series after that (with these terraleptal creatures). Excuse me, when I said "Logopolis", I meant "Castrovalva"... Just a slight slip of the tounge, surely you can see why I made the error..... Alexander Burchell [agb@ucbarpa] [ucbvax!agb] "Pay no attention to that man in the mail header!"
