[net.tv.drwho] scarf patterns

nlt@duke.UUCP (N. Tinkham) (02/06/84)

Many thanks to uiucdcs!futrell for posting the pattern for the Doctor's
multicolored scarf. The following corrections, however, should be noted:
     1) The instruction to knit 88 purple rows should instead
        call for 8 purple rows.
     2) The last instruction, 10 mustard, should be 16 mustard.
     3) The tassels are made from 1-foot, not 1-inch, lengths.

[And just to clarify, the #9 (knitting needle) refers to U.S. sizes.]

I have recently obtained the pattern for the red scarf and (to answer Mary
Hauck's request) will post it in the next day or two unless someone beats
me to it.

For my own information: Does anyone know how long the 2 scarfs are to be
when finished? (I can estimate from the patterns, but are there any 'official'
numbers floating around?)

As to the size of the finished scarves...

I believe that the lengths of Baker's scarves were 14 feet (indoors)
and 22 (maybe 20) outdoors. The Burgundy scarf of the 18th season
is sort of a cruel item...Tom Baker HATES Burgundy!

Also, for anyone who didn't know...

The Tom Baker serial from his first season with the Sontaran Styre (I
forget the name!! Drat!) was supposed to be 4 episodes in length, instead
of two. Tom received a shoulder injury from tripping on the scarf! 8-)

If you asked me for scarf patterns but didn't get them,

please try again. I'm having trouble finding paths.
