Here's the info asked for regarding the Doctors: 1) William Hartnell - First episode of Dr. Who broadcast 23 November 1963. Hartnell was the Doctor for 3 seasons. Left in 1966 due to ill health. 2) Patrick Troughton - Played the Doctor for 3 seasons. Left due to fear of being typecast. 3) Jon Pertwee - 5 seasons as the Doctor. The death of Roger Delgado (the first Master) in a car crash in 1973 was a major factor in Jon's decision to leave. 4) Tom Baker - The record holder - 7 seasons. Left to pursue other challenges as an actor. 5) Peter Davison - The youngest of the Doctors and the first to grow up as a fan of the Doctor. Spent 3 seasons. 6) Colin Baker - will take over as the Doctor beginning with season 22. All information taken from the BBC DR WHO 20th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL which I highly recommend for all fans craving info on the Doctor.
