When it comes to favorites, I must say that I have more than two, and that's that. But the ones that come to mind first of all from Tom Baker's shows are: 1. "The Ark In Space" because it was classic science fiction- horror with loads of atmosphere and great companions--Sarah and Harry were such a cute pair! 2. "The Seeds of Doom" and "Planet of Evil" for much the same reasons; also that Krynoid monster was really excellent, and Scorby and Chase were such a deliciously scummy pair of villains...and that jungle set in "Planet of Evil" was something else. Interestingly enough, after I'd al- ready fallen in love with that serial, I read in an interview with Lis Sladen (Sarah) that that was her favorite too. 3."The Robots of Death" (in spite of the weak, hurried ending) simply because I thought that those Voc robots were the most bizarre and beautiful creations I'd ever seen on the show. 4.and, "Logopolis" because it was so splendidly dramatic and spooky too. It actually succeeded in bringing the idea of universal annihil ation to life for me, and making it truly frightening. The cloister room was lovely too, and Sarah Sutton's acting when she realised that Traken had really been destroyed was very moving. And, of course, I love the Master!!! I should note that these are just my Baker ones; also I haven't yet seen "City of Death" which is fantastically popular with everyone I know... so I expect that I'll love it too. As far as Davison's concerned, all of his shows are of such high quality that it's harder to choose..."Mawdryn Undead" I loved also, not only because of the great plot, but also for the Brigadier's long overdue return. I think my overall favorite is "Enlightenment"; it is the most romantic Doctor Who I've ever seen, and I don't mean boy-girl stuff, just an indescribable haunting atmosphere of mystery, almost a sort of surrealism. The characters of Striker and particularly Marriner I found enthralling, and Wrack was a marvelous villain (except I kept laughing, because I swear she was a double for my singing teacher!!!) The special effects too were of a very high order, and Turlough had a marvelous role. And, for those of you who haven't yet seen "The Sea Devils," and "The Time Monster" (wherein we see the Master seducing an Atlantean queen!!!-- both Pertwee stories) what a treat you have in store...if I start on that, I'll go on all night!!! Suffice it to say that you haven't lived till you've seen Roger Delgado play the Master. Please do write in all of your favorites too..they're tremendously fun to read as it's always interesting to hear OTHER people's opinions... Julia Lawrence Guard: "Who are you?" Doctor: "Well, as a matter of fact, I'm a spy. I wonder if you could help me-- I'm looking for this rocket of yours..." P.S. to Kurt Hartwig: yes, Turlough is an alien; his origins are revealed in the 22nd season's "Planet Of Fire" (a Master serial as well; also intro- duces another companion, American Perpugilliam (Peri) Brown). Unfortunately, I haven't yet seen it... John Nathan-Turner said at a San Francisco con that he was a sort of galactic ex-con, but I don't know about that!!!
