Uhm, I thought I posted something about this before (in fact I know I
did!) so here it is again...
Turlough is a member of a race called "Trions" who had a rather long
and nasty war. Turlough's side lost, and his people were banished
throughout Time and Space. In "Planet of Fire" (21st Season), Peri
Brown (new companion) and her step-father find a tube from Turlough's
planet along with some old Greek vases which is emitting some sort of
distress signal. Turlough tries to avoid it because he thinks he'll
be in some sort of trouble.
Anyway, Turlough winds up with the Doctor and Peri on the "Planet of
Fire" where there are other Trions. It turns out that this planet is
where Turlough's father and brother were exiled! Turlough meets his
brother, but there is some trouble with the planet and everyone needs
rescuing. Therefore, Turlough calls Trion and gets help, but risks
getting punished for escaping. When help arrives, he's told that the
people have been forgiven and may come home. Turlough goes home with
his brother, leaving the Doctor with Peri.
BTW, the MASTER appears in "Planet of Fire" in a very SMALL role 8-)
